Sandra Silađev – DEJT

Popular Belgrade actress and stand-up comic Sandra Silađev will perform a one-woman show ‘Dejt’ in Stockholm, Scalateatern sunday December 8th.

In the monodrama, Sandra Silađev plays the role of a middle-aged lady and single mother Olivera Živković, who finds herself jilted when her date does not show up.

As she waits Olivera ponders life’s funny, frantic and tragic questions. What will the results of her medical tests show? Will she discover the meaning of true love and eternal oath of marriage? What does Olivera think of motherhood? And of a woman’s position in society today? Will she ever understand why the length of one’s hemline and the height of one’s heels is inversely proportional to the strength of one’s morality? Are cafes properly adapted to the needs of disabled patrons? Is the world a safe place for teenage girls? Is it better to be a paid hostess or an unpaid housewife? How can a single mother breastfeed her baby and go to work at the same time?

As the performance progresses, Olivera Živković feels like a lady, a spinster, a divorcee and oddly even a widow, although no one has died. She is driven to distraction by categories and strange relationships between lovers in the 21st century. Surely she’s not asking too much from life, just the one simple thing that every individual wants – to find a soulmate.
